I’m looking to replace the aft bilge pump and float on a 306 canyon.

What’s the best way at it? Access plate in engine well is small and hard to access due to engines. Plus I’d need a lot longer arms.

Can I get at the bilge pump via lifting floor panel?

Maybe I need to cut in a larger access hatch in engine well?

What have others done?

Thank you!

Hi,

Did you trying going via the fold-down panel on the transom behind the folding bench seat?

One pet peeve with Grady is their crowded and inaccessible stern bilge area. I owned a 305 Express with a generator and water tank in the aft bilge. I don’t know your configuration but I would have had to remove the generator and water tank to access the bilge pump. Luckily I never had to do the job.

The maintenance guy from ex owner told me that he could enter thru the removes folding door behind the foldable bench seat, but he is thin and 5.5 tall
I will install new engines next week and need to get there for cables, fuel filters, the new GT51M-TM cable and installing a Bilge High Water Alarm.
I definitively can not enter there, but i guess i can reach the bilge pump to install a new one if necessary.
Not sure where your pump exactly is, but lifting the panel should not give you better access.

On the 307 I have a hatch on the floor that lifts up. It is right in front of/under the flip up seat. On the CC I think this is not not made to open. My bilge pump is easy to access from this. If yours is in the same place (same hull right?) it might be worth it to remove that panel. Especially if you need access to the rigging tubes
