I am looking at a 282 Sailfish that does not have the optional air conditioner. One of the facotry options for this model was a 7,000 BTU air conditioner-- my understanding is that the factory AC was for inshore use only, as there is no generator. Does anyone know anything about the factory AC-- I was told by Grady that a dealer could still install it, but Grady could not give the cost. Can you use the factory AC offshore? If not, is it possible to install an AC unit for offsore use perhaps a genset or battery operated system?

Any comments are appreciated.

There are numerous posts regarding AC in a Sailfish.
I did after market dealer installed in mine.
Do a search on this site for Sailfish ac install posts and you'll find all you want to know.
Then do a search for Honda 2000 generator and it will complete the loop.

I just installed a cruise air 6000 btu on my 05 27 Islander. Mounted behind fridge. I had shorepower installed. I use a 2000 Honda Generator to power away from dock. System works great and will freeze you out in West Central Florida.
