Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and apologies if this has been covered but I didn't see it specifically.

I have 98 Islander (and an older Sea Farer). The Islander has three batteries, one of which I believe is dedicated to accessories. I run a Lawrence and the marine radio and never run the boat at night.

Issue is with recharging the accessory battery. The other two batteries seem to charge adequately, and occasionally need to use 'both' to start. But the accessory battery is temperamental -- seems to charge only after very long days on the water.

Is there a way to charge the accessory battery quicker other than pluging in at the dock?

Thanks and I look forward to your advice.

Lets get started - more information needed.
How many motors and what kind? How old are your batteries? Do you have a meter to test their voltage? Needing to switch to both batteries to start engine could mean a starting battery is getting weak- or maybe it wasn't the correct size when installed? Could be your alternators on motor aren't putting out enough charge batteries. Do you have onboard (120 volt) battery charger? do batteries seem to be fully charged after using that?
I'm just putting thoughts out there, on where I would start trying to figure this out.

You can go to this page... http://www.gradywhite.com/the-grady-exp ... s-manuals/
put in the info for your boat -1998 Islander
Go to page 7-18 and see if that makes any sense to you.

I should have said first, I assume all battery connections are tight.

Problem fixed. There was only a negative line connecting two of the batteries (1 and 2 of 3). Added a positive connection line; problem solved!
