I am looking for any feedback regarding converting my NFB mechanical steering to a Hydraulic Steering system. I have a 1985 Grady White Tournament with a 140hp Suzuki 4stroke. It currently has a Uflex Accura Mechanical NFB system and I need to replace the Helm and the Cable again. I was considering upgrading to the BayStar Hydraulic Steering system and wondering if anyone has any thoughts.

Thanks

Hydraulic is definitely the way to go, but it is expensive. I've had plenty of boats with Teleflex's Seastar stearing, and prefer it to cable. Never had the Baystar, but I assume it's just a scaled down version, max hp is 150 for Baystar.
If you think you might repower someday with more than 150 hp, you might want to consider going for the Seastar.

just fixed mine today!!! the thru hull fitting was broken when repowered and when it was fixed they never purged it. after three purgings i finally have the steering tight. i found out how to do it with one person. hook up to the helm with the bottle (like a IV) cut a small hole in the top of the bottle and run a hose from the bleed screw to the helm bottle. the hose will be full when you tighen the screw so no air will go in. i purged both sides for several minutes with one bottle of fluid. now it is time for the gas pump!!!!!
