Bring back shine to Yamaha outboard

Hello all,

Is there a simple (i.e. inexpensive) method to shine the metal and plastic parts of a Yamaha 225 (4-stroke, if that matters at all)? Engine runs great, but the external surfaces have lost their initial shine... any advice appreciated!

 

[NOTHING ELSE MATTERS]

Polishing compound and then wax,wax,wax. If it's really bad, 1000 grit wet sand, then buff and polish, then wax.
