A Boat Owners Warehouse salesman said that adding 2 oz of chili powder to a gallon of bottom paint deterred barnacle and other growth on water stored boats. Any experience with this?

Funny, I heard the same thing from a US GOVT boating safety instructor in SW Florida, tried it and it did not seem to make a difference. To avoid them, use the boat and or give it a good scrub regularly

I thought that was what bottom paint was for.
That fellow used the chili powder on the outdrive along with some outdrive ( not anti fouling) paint. That's waht didn't work. Since his bottom paint was copper based, it can't be used on the outdrive

The person I spoke with said it augmented the paint's antifouling characteristics in S. FL
