Okay, please correct me if I am wrong, but the cockpit bag that goes under the hard top, where you store life jackets etc. most quotes gave me like 300-400.

Now, not trying to not pick, but I wanted to see what I could install vs what I needed them to install.

So, I got this catalog in with my new vhf and was browsing it this morning..

Oh....side note. Just got contact lenses...first time in over a decade I could read without those cheap reading glasses...cannot wait till they invent contact lenses with built in led lighting...lol...joke...

Anyway... “SQUIRREL!”

So, I saw these cockpit bags. 65 bucks...is this the same thing and...easy to install?

Ummm... did you have your new lenses in when looking at those bag's descriptions? ;)

Look at the sizes and the descriptions - totally different thing.

I don't use a hardtop/t-top bag so I don't want to comment on price. But the reason I don't use one is that my hardtop only has about 6'6"-ish of head clearance. Not enough to hang a bag. I have seen, though, actual "bags" and also just a netting that gets stretched out. Before you buy one, check your clearance just to be sure.

Actually.. I did have my contacts in.. lol.. but the light is / was dim, so could not see the description and.. forgot about it on the way to work.. lol.

Yea, I am not sure $400 is worth the storage, especially when, like you said.. I may need to add more height to it to get the clearance. I think the boat has lenty of storage to stow them elsewhere and save the money.. I can always add that later if I want.

Give A&J canvas in Vanceboro NC a call. They make them for GW. They are a one piece unit that is tied to the hardtop underneath. Can't be that much. I'm guessing $150.

This,,,,,,,,,,from A&J.

I'm 6'2" and have plenty of clearance to walk under.

Actually just went out and measured the clearance since the boat is home. 6'4" to the bag at its lowest sag with the life jackets in it. The rear lower cross member of the hardtop frame is lower than the bag at 6' 3-3/4"

Very nice. Same place that makes enclosures too, right?

Awesome. Getting excited about the boat, but need to keep the add-ons down. The hard top is a must as are all the electrical wires and stuff they can do a lot easier as they build it. Things like the enclosure and that bag, I can do later. I think I have the top cost down to under 10-11k max with tax. That is a lot better. Might have it under 10k. Will have to check.

Need to pick out a new antenna and a couple other antennas.

I read that the Digital brand is better than Shakespear, just not sure if it is 200 plus better.

Also, gotta figure 8 ft or more.

Then, guess I can have a pull cord run for the future radar, make it easier when I actually buy radar, but the sat antenna and gps antenna should be fairly inexpensive to go ahead and add now.

I can pay that off in a couple months and then get the other stuff...make my wife happier heh.

Thanks! R

Just remember that these Grady tops have a hump. If you have a top made it will likely be flat.

I've got three full size offshore PFDs and 4 or 5 inshore pfds up there...my 265 top is wider than can Islander top

Yep, accounted for the missing hump. The kids will always have vests on, may just need to add 6-8” more height...but may also end up not having the bag.

Will know more once the boat is here and I see what room it has.
