Doing some winter routine maintenance on my F300. One task is changing out the water pump. After removing the housing and impeller assembly, I noticed some shallow scoring on the shaft where the 2 stacking seals at the top of the housing reside. My question is whether or not a light amount of scoring is normal. I changed out the pump 2 seasons ago and do not remember if the grooves were in the shaft or not.
Also, several inches above the pump housing there is a shiny portion on the shaft where it appears it rotates inside of a bushing or similar part. Is there anything up inside the leg that the shaft runs through that would need to be serviced before I re-install the LU? The OB has approx. 400 hours on it.
Thanks
