My spotlight is not working.

Have power to the switch.
Don't have power after the switch unless I pull the
2 wires (going to light and motor controls) from the out
side of switch.

Does the indicate a bad ground or a short circuit?

There a little more too it than 12 volts and ground. What model and brand light do you have??

so when you take off the orange wire theres voltage across the switch? does the light motor turn? If it was a short i would think the fuse would pop. I would check the blub if theres no light, and the motor moves.

Correct. The volts drop to zero across the switch if the orange wire is attached to the switch.
Neither the light or motor works. The two power sources are pigtailed together...may try to separate them and test individually.
The ground looked clean.

The boat is shrink wrapped so I don't have enough room to get at the light itself till spring.
