Hi guys,

After a bunch of digging through old posts, I see that this question has been asked in various forms before, but the answers have never really had a ton of detail. The closest thread, "Trolling motor on GW180" viewtopic.php?f=3&t=7143&p=44672, is basically the exact same question, but got zero replies. That was 7 years ago though, so I figured I would try again.

I keep my Sportsman 180 on the Potomac River in Northern Va. There are a ton of shallow areas that I would like to fish. Running the F150 constantly is a great way to piss off the fish and make them leave, and also limits the depth I'm comfortable operating in. Accordingly, it seems like the solution is to get a bow-mount electric trolling motor. I see a picture in the gallery of exactly this type of setup, but it's not clear what kind it is, what voltage, what shaft length, etc.

So:
-- Has anyone on the board done this install themselves?
-- What motor did you use?
-- How many batteries do you have?
-- Bonus points for pictures.
-- Is the reason there isn't much information that this is a bad idea?

Thanks!

Stephen
