Got a response to my post about looking for a windshield, that said to email some other guy? Seems fishy to me what ya’ll think?

First off it's highly unlikely this will work out. Could be legitimate but you have to be careful. So many frauds online.

Where is the windshield relative to your location? I wouldn't buy it without seeing it first. To far away? Forget it. Condition of an old boat part is usually not good (hardtops and hatches especially). A lot will depend on how it is removed from the boat. Probably a wrecked salvage boat...if it exists at all.

The thing that usually gives them away to me the quickest is the "Joined date". Most of the time, if someone is saying that they, or their "buddy", have something available and especially if they say to email them... I look at the date they joined the forums here. Typically it's usually always something where they joined within the last couple of days to a week and is an immediate red flag. That, and they'll oftentimes post in multiple threads about how they have multiple different items available for multiple different models of boats. But yes, definitely a scam, I'm guessing that they're wanting your email to try and send you a suspicious link or to try and get personal information from you. If you're ever at all not sure whether something is a scam or not, I always recommend someone having a "burner" email address to give them. That way if you do get scammed and they do get your email address, it won't be your primary one with all of your personal information on it. Good luck.
