New member here, long time boater, will soon be a first time Grady owner.
Purchased a new 2025 Freedom 235 late last year, can’t wait till delivery, shooting for late April.
Includes optional factory bow cover (ivory). Haven’t seen it yet, but from search likely Stamoid (vinyl over polyester).
I want to get a mooring cover made, especially important to protect all the vinyl in the Freedom, and to keep the cockpit clean.
In season the boat will be wet slipped at the dock behind our small canal home.
Over the course of the entire season in NJ, early may through late October, cover might be on 50% of the time. When not in use will be folded up and stored in dock box.
Off season / winter the boat will be blocked in my driveway and shrink wrapped.
Trying to decide what material for the mooring cover –
1. Either match the bow material?
a. I’m sure the stamoid will do a great job repelling water for many years.
b. Been told very foldable / pliable during non-cold weather, not sure at the cooler early / late season.
c. Stamoid doesn’t breathe. Hot & humid summers. Inviting mold and mildew? Guess I could use some damp rid bags / pails in season to somewhat mitigate?
d. The factory mooring cover is ivory stamoid, so perhaps some of my concerns are non-issue if Grady uses stamoid.
2. Or go a different route with sunbrella, breathable, always foldable. However, the water repellency will fade over time. If I do go this route may need to get bow cover made to match, I know, ocd already.
Would greatly appreciate any experienced advice, or interesting thoughts.

For covers, I would lean towards Sunbrella, Your boat will have some wetness and you want that to evaporate. In addition built up heat needs a way to escape. I have seen isinglass actually bubble from heat buildup.
Sun and UV rays are the factors that you should address. That means that if you get covers made, all the vinyl and upholstery should be protected. That can be tricky in some cases where upholstery wraps over gunnels, I would avoid leaving any canvas/plastic curtains on the boat in the off season if they are under a boat cover.
