I saw the new Freedom 255 today. My impressions of this boat for +/-$100K was in a word, disappointing.
The 275 has it all over this boat for an additional $10 or $15K with a now proven, robust F350 vs. the 255 with a new 300 HP six cylinder with no track record and a number reasons to be concerned with the design approach. That is the way that Yamaha is pushing this six cylinder block and crank to squeak out 300 HP.
I found the Freedom cockpit to be small and not as well appointed as the 275's, no pop-up cleats, low freeboard, insufficient storage, no tackle locker, no stern cooler, disappointing port side seating, the head is cramped and the helm is not as nice or as roomy as the 275.
For $80K this boat would be worth considering. Other than gaining a transom door I do not see much of an upgrade over the 225 and at $100K . I see this boat positioned and priced in the line up like the 29' Chesapeake.
Given what I have seen of the Freedom 255 and the new Pursuit 26 DC the extra money for the 275 is well worth it.
Just my opinion.
