I noticed the last time I filled my tank it only showed 3/4 of a tank. I pulled out the sending unit today and found that no matter how much fuel is in the tube it measures 3/4 of a tank. I tested the connection between the sending unit and the gauge with a multi-meter and it appears fine (goes to empty and completely full).

Has anyone had any experience in replacing this unit? The inside of mine is a white plastic with a series of numbers. Unfortunately I could not find these numbers with an Internet search. I did find some "generic" replacements by Moeller.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

I just replaced mine cause it was stuck at 1/2 full. Measure how long yours is and just order a new one. It is probably a Wema SSS/SSL. Google Wema USA and look at their website.

As usual I had thought the number would be important. Went out and pulled it out again and ordered from WEMA. Thanks for the information. I was reading the instructions for installation and it mentions calibration. Did you have to do any calibration?

Nope, I just put it in and hooked up the wires and was done with it. The units are different now and there is no tube around it, just a float that rides on a rod.

Is it always the sending unit

My gauges don't work at all really. I put in a fuel flow gauge and use that to know when I'm getting low.

Is it as simple as replacing the sending units?
