I bought a Marlin 300 on March. The boat came witha Furuno FCV 585 and I just now realized that the water temp gauge is not not displaying a temp. I'm still learning my way around the unit. Is there something that I'm missing? Or is it possible that the unit didnt even have a water temp option? I checked the option on the unit that displays wind, distance travel etc.

Thanks in advance

It is possible that you do not have a temp sensor. You need to identify the transducer model to tell. if it has a thru hull, there are several models. One is a triducer with sounder, temp and speed but most are sounders only.

I have the Furuno 620 and it shows a black line across the screen indicating a temp graph.

It's not a head unit issue, it's a transducer issue.

You must go into the menu and look for something that says "data box on" or something like that.It will display with the lat-lon in the upper left side if the screen. When I hooked up my friends 585 it took some searching in the menu but I found it. If you have trouble finding it, next time im at the marina I'll write down step by step how to do it.

I have a 585 and the temp reading is difficult to see until you realise it is just a fine blue line across the screen corresponding to the numbers down the side. Not what i was expecting and unlike any others I've used.

However if it's not this then certainly it may not be switched on in menu or else you don't have a transducer with temp gauge built in.

You must turn it on in the menu to read actual number temp, not just a blue line
