I have a 2 8616 Garmin's on my boat with the factory blue sea charts Blue Chart g3 Vision | VUS011R Is it worth it to upgrade to the Garmin Navionics vision+ NVUS006R I bottom fish offshore in 80 to 200 feet of water about 20 to 60 miles out.
Will I get any more detail on the bottom I have a thru haul transducer chirp hw1kw transducer

Yes you will get more bottom detail on the Garmin Navionics Vision+ NVUS006R shaded relief charts. It will not change your sounder/transducer performance.

The vision + chart is a game changer if you bottom fish. The detail does decrease as you go past 100’. If you use active captain, you will find yourself looking at this chart all the time and finding new spots.

Ok got and installed my new card. Went fishing yesterday and was out 50 miles. It was good. I thank it is better for inshore but all in all I am happy. I think it’s worth the upgrade

As 222GW already mentioned, relief shading is great to about 200-300ft and the degrade quickly,
but still show bigger shoals and canyons on the continental shelf.
Yes it's definitively worth the upgrade!

As you know The Gulf of America is pretty flat until you get way offshore. I looked at my charts for one of the GG members for the Sarasota inshore. It had some detail but not as much as the East coast or Keys. In the Keys I find the shaded relief to be great inshore out to the reef. For trolling the offshore humps the charts helps me see the contours better. Probably would help deep dropping too but I don't do that. I think you will find it useful and worth the investment.

Yes I like it. The gulf is like a desert when you get out that far but you can see the ridges even if they are not big. It was an investment, but glad I did and worth it for me. My old card would loose everything bottom wise about 25 mikes out, and did not have as good detail inshore.
