All,

We're putting a stereo on the gauge panel on a 2005 Gulfstream. The stereo faceplate sits about 2" higher than the gauge cover will allow. Does anyone have ideas on how to raise the cover about 2" without losing its ability to shed water? Of, is there a manufacturer out there that could make another piece of lexan that would sit 2" higher in the center portion but still sit flush with the helm station? Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Larry

Yes, there are fabricators who make custom plastics for boaters, check your local Fisherman periodical classified, get a few opinions -email them the photos. A fabricator can take your existing piece and use it as a template to create another with perhaps a raised section. It may cost you though, since it is only one piece and hand worked.

You may also consider a semi-flush mount, by having created an insert that is recessed, then radio fits into the same cut out you were going to make, but in the recess piece instead.
