Generator Winterization

Hi Guys. So this is the first year with a boat with a genset on it. I'm going to be doing the winterization on it myself and had a couple questions. Is there a way to do this without removing the hose from the seacock. Also do you remove the empellars for the winter. Thanks in advance for the assistance.

If you are in a freeze area, you must remove ALL the water from the genset or flush with RV antifreeze thru water intake. I prefer that method. They make toilet plunger looking device to hold up to bottom of hull so you can feed the RV antifreeze fluid into intake. That will protect genset unit from freeze damage and corrosion and keep impeller lubricated for spring startup.
I live where freeze is not a problem so don't need to do that each fall.

Follow up question: other than antifreeze through the raw water lines, and proper diesel fuel additive, does anyone do something in the way of fogging the diesel Fischer Panda out or just shut it down for the winter? It is injected, and therefore unable to spray fogging oil into carb, also no spark plug to pull to spray into the cylinder. Thanks...

as you noted, you cant fog a diesel engine without pulling the injector out.
I just hand turn the engine until there is compression. That way, all the valves are closed and no airborne moisture can get into it.
I drain the fuel out of tank and change both fuel and change oil and oil filter before last shutdown. I have used diesel storage additive but prefer putting in fresh fuel at start of season. My tank is only 10 gal when full. Moisture and algae are the enemies of diesel engines and they accumulate when in storage.
