I’m in the middle of buying a grady white 258D Voyager and would like some opinions on repowering it. It’s currently got twin 150 HPDI’s and I got a good deal on some 200 V6 Zukes. Do you think that would be too much weight on the transom? I fish offshore often and bring lots of gas, gear, gas, etc, so I see the extra power as a bonus.

Whats the max hp for the transom? Is it 350hp? I think the zuke is about 100 lbs per motor as well. That may a bit too much if you ask me.

Too much power, too much weight... Unless you are oblivious to the negative implications. Many get obsessed with the few benefits of a move like this, and don't realize all the problems it creates until they experience them first hand afterwards. That boat was designed to run nothing bigger than twin 4 cylinder 4 strokes.

Concur with the comments above. Just sold a 270 Islander with almost 160 hrs on twin F150s. Over 50 offshore trips to 65-70nm out, with four or five people and full gear. Lots of speed and power.

I'd also be worried if you can insure it. Some don't like and overpowered transom.
