I had my engine cowlings repainted for my 1987 150 yamaha outboards. I also bought new weather strip seals for them. The old ones were fastened with staples. I don't have any tool like that. Would automotive weather strip glue work instead?

John, are you nippin' at the egg nog a little early? That picture is a bit shaky! :D

The rubber seal on my cowling is sort of a friction fit, but I was planning on using a little adhesive sealant (LifeSeal) simply because I have it laying around. I don't think it needs much to keep it on. I've never used automotive weatherstrip adhesive, but it sounds like a good plan.

No egg nog yet...lol We got new smart phones and i'm still playing with the camera settings. My original seals were stapled onto the fiberglass. I have the seals on now but if i turn the cowlings right side up the seal falls off.
I know i have some 4200 and 5200 laying around which i might use. Is this pic better??

Yes, much clearer. Use the 4200, not the 5200. Even the 4200 is probably overkill. Don't go overboard with it - a few dabs in key areas is about all I plan on doing, but mine also stays on relatively well to start with. But still, go light with the adhesive.
