I recently bought a 1982 Weekender that was converted to an outboard. This was done is 2000 or 2001 and then about 6 years ago another 2000/2001 engine was put on due to a bad cylinder. However, the owner wasn't quite sure of the dates. The transom bracket, I believe, is the original -- I can read that serial number on the port side of the bracket. But the serial number on the other side has seen better days. Is there a serial number on the engine itself somewhere? I looked for a tag, but didn't see anything - at least nothing obvious. Is there a way to find the engine's serial number by looking just on the engine somehwhere?
