Installing new fuel sending unit

I just bought a new fuel sending unit to replace my current one. I bought it from wema usa it looks like it is made very well compared to the origional one i also bought a new gauge from them. My question is should i use some type of sealant(fuel resistant rtv?) along with the gasket supplied the tank is aluminum . and maybe a thread sealant (teflon paste)on the screws that attach it. any help is appreciated. i cant wait to have a gauge/sender that i have faith in. when the tank was full before the gauge would suddenly slam back to empty!
 
New gasket, no sealant. Be careful and don't overtighten the screws. In addition to snapping a bolt, you can distort the flange if you over tighten.
Make sure you clean up the ground wire contact and that ity makes a good connection.
 
I'd use some sealant only under screw heads. silicon is ok

If tank surface under gasket is not corroded, no sealant needed.

Make sure you do new deck plates or O rings, no water is to enter onto top of tank.

only on screws if your super anal, i use gas pipe line sealer on screws

DO NOT USE SILICON, it is not gas/fumes proof
 
Fuel Sender

I replaced mine using only a gasket and clean surfaces. Somehow I ended up with a leak. Took it apart again, and used some non-hardening Perma-tex. It has been holding up for about 2 years now.
 
You can use Halomar to seal the threads (good stuff but a little hard to find).
