Installing Standard Horizon GX1400 Flushmount Challenge
When using the MMB-84 brackets, the holes on the radio do not line up. The console mounting surface seems to be too thick. Have a Grady White Freedom 235. Has anyone experienced this? Thanks!

Need more info - pics or at least links to these brackets and also what holes you are talking about. It's unclear since you're talking about flush mounting but also mentioned using brackets.

But, based on what you've said so far... drill new holes for the screws where they need to be.

Hi Dennis, thanks for the quick response. Yes, drilling a new hole into the bracket may be the best option. Unfortunately, didn't have a measuring tape to determine where the hole should be. Will visit the boat tomorrow to take a measurement. Thanks!

Ah, OK. Thanks for the pics - that clears it up nicely.

Strange... it actually seems like there is very little allowance for various dash thicknesses.

Off the top of my head, another idea or two...

How far into the "dash pad" does the bolt extend? Meaning, if you eliminated the dash pad and just a 1" square piece of 1/16" aluminum stock there, instead, would that give you enough space to use the existing hole in the bracket?

You could use a Forstner bit or a Dremel to relieve the back side of the dash enough for the mounting pad - effectively decreasing the thickness of the dash.

Dealer's choice on what option you prefer maybe there's another one I didn't yet think of!

Yes, also my 306 Canyon console is extremely thick i discovered lately.

I just removed the probably OEM Raymarine VHF from it's dumb position and it had a similar bracket, but with much more space to fit thicker materials.
If you drill a new hole in the bracket most forward as possible and maybe eliminate the black plastic "foot" of the bolt, would it fit then, or still too narrow?
Is there a option to use 4 screws on the front of the VHF (like flush mount plotters have) and use them instead of the bracket?
Does Standard Horizon has another bracket for thicker consoles as optional?
