Islander vs. Sailfish Power

I am shopping my next boat and like the layout of the Islander best.

I see most are single 250's. I met an owner of one and he is not complaining about that power.

Every Sailfish I see is rigged with twin V-6's.

Why does one need twins and the other is fine with a single?
I don't see a lot of difference between these 2 models.

Islander vs. Sailfish

The Islander has a 8' 6" beam and offered with a single or twins.

The Sailfish is wider, heavier. and only available with twins. More cabin space and cockpit.

I have trailered my Islander to Florida the last two winters from NJ. Trailerability was one of the reasons I bought the Islander. I have twin F150's and am real happy with the performance.

I think another member - ocnslr - started with a single and switched to twins. You should talk to Brian.

I have a 2000 Islander that I repowered from a single 250 to a Suzuki 300 - difference is incredible. Much faster, quieter and more fuel efficient. I'll be listing it for sale in February after I bring it back down to FL from NC.

Sailfish is a very heavy boat - I have never seen or heard of one with a single engine even the 350.
