I have a 1984 204C that was purchased recently. I would like to replace the control cables as shifting is very stiff.

Don't think the cables on the boat are correct. Does anyone know what length cables are correct for this boat? Engine is a 175 HP johnson.

Thanks,

Dave

The cables that are in the boat now should have numbers on them indicating length.

Assuming your not on a bracket?

Try not to go with anything longer than what you need, don't want loose coils floppin' around.

Pretty sure when I did mine they were 17 or 18'. You can get a measurement by running a tape thru the chase from the stern.

Before I did that tho I would verify that problem is in the cable and not the engine, disconnect and check again.
