Looking to repower my 1987 Tournament 192. Labor of love with new gas tank, wiring, lights, seats, teak, striping, you name it. Looking to replace my already rebuilt multiple times 1986 Mercury 175. Looking at a 2020 Evinrude G1 eTech 150 or a Yamaha 150. Or go used again? Many thanks!

I have a tournament 19.
Motor is now a 2000 mercury 200 EFI.
Put on a solas 19 stainless.
Very happy
You could spend more.
Controls were a snap.
Added a temp gauge.
Motor has an integrated fuel filter better than most inline types.
Seems there are a decent number of used never rebuilt units like mine very affordable and I’m in Minnesota.
Motor also looks right, you know, style points.

One thing to keep in mind is that boat has a 20" transom. The 190 didn't go to a 25" transom until '98. If you are used motor shopping, keep that in mind.

I repowered my 89 Tournament with a new 150 Yamaha. Best thing I ever did with my boat.

Also, considering the recent news about E-Tec stopping production, I'd stay away from E-tech. I am glad I did 5 years ago when I was debating 4 stroke or E-Tec.

I had a 192 and repowered it with a F150.. Boat ran great. It would fly with a 200 but honestly, the 150 will work very well.

I have an 85 Tournament with a 140Hp Suzuki. I feel it’s slightly underpowered.
