Moving up form Steiger 23' to something I can run in the ocean out of O/C MD. Looking at late 90's to early 2000 Marlin 300 or 282 Sailfish. Looking for fuel consumption on twin F 250's on a Marlin in that period.

I have a 2007 Marlin with twin Yamaha F250s. Best long range cruise is 30mph at 4100 RPM. I burn about 21 gallons per hour at that cruise speed. Not sure what the older models burn. Before I bought the Marlin I had a "97 27 Sailfish with twin 200 2 strokes. Fuel burn was the same as the Marlin at cruise. Of course the Marlin is quite a bit heavier. Personally after owning both boats, you just can't beat the Marlin as a fishing machine.
Leaning more toward the Marlin with the beam and larger cockpit space. Just a bit more involved to trailer. Will trailer twice a year to dry storage lot close to ramp. Thanks for the reply.

18-24 gph depending upon conditions, load and how fast you want to get there. I often cruise on the low end of the range.
the older ones are likely a little more thirsty 1-2 gph. you'll need a permit for the 10'7" beam if trailering distance.

Those fuel burns are very arbitrary. More accurately, you will get 1.0 miles (statute miles) to the gallon, possibly with light load and great conditions up to 1.2 (rare) and with a loaded boat and poor conditions .9 miles to the gallon. So if you cruise at 25 you will likely burn near 25, 30 will equal 30 and that is pretty much through the entire cruise range.
