Twin 1998 Yammy 150s, carb. Starboard motor alarm went off and motors went into preservation mode. Oil full, temperature fine. After a couple of seconds the alarm shut off, back up on plane. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Sounds like low oil. If the oil in the tank on the engine was low, the alarm will sound and the n=motor will throttle down. Did you remove the engine cover to look at the tank?

As fast as I could. Both motors were at the same level, 3/4 full.
If it was an oil alarm, then I suspect the oil tank sender has a dead spot or there is a loose connection somewhere. I think you course of action is to keep an eye on it until next time.
There is another possibility that you had a temp alarm due to blockage of the water inlets. perhaps you ran into a plastic bag or the like.

If it happens again and its safe to do so, cut the switch off and kill the motor. Then remove the hood and check the oil level. Be sure that you look closely to see which alarm is tripped.
Seasick has already named 2 very good possibilites.
