I want to mount a kicker motor on the transom of my 1998 272 Sailfish, but room is limited. Has anyone done this, and if so what sort of mount did you use? Thanks.

they make special mounts just for this....they have various sizes based on whether or not its a 2 or 4 stroke and horsepower and shaft length....most online marine places sell them, so should a dealer....try defender.com.........the unit is drilled and thru bolted through the transom...some units require a backing plate to get the proper mount angle and support but thats normally for sailboats with curved transomes.....its not a big deal....

I had my Grady dealer install a "recommended" bracket on my 1999 Voyager 248. There's plenty of room for my 9.9 kicker and it looks nice. The heavy duty pull down brackets sold on the secondary markets don't fit or work well. Mine is a stationary ss bracket.
