Have the opportunity to buy a 1988 Grady White 240 (looks like the 242G model) Offshore with two 150 HP Yamaha four stroke manufactured October 2003. The motors appear to be in very good condition. Have not run a compression test and don't know the number of hour on them. The motors are mounted on a Gil bracket. The boat appears very sound, no weak spots in decking. No cracks in gel coat. No rust streaks from Gil bracket bolts. There are what appears to be some hair line cracks on the Gil bracket. It has all Yamaha gauges to include fuel management gauge. Old model Furuno bottom machine. It has an old aluminum duel torsion axle trailer with surge brakes. Trailer need some work on fenders and bunks. The Asking price for this repossessed unit is $15,500.00
Here are my Questions:
Is this unit worth the asking price?
How do I check the stern to be sure it is sound?
How do I check the fuel tanks to be sure they are sound?
At cruise speed what MPG can be expected?
What are other things should I look for?
Would appreciate any and all comments, opinions, advice, guidance etc.
Thank You,
JW
