I'm going to look at a 2006 Seafarer 226. The boat and motor have approximately 500 hours on them. The motor is a Yamaha 225 Four Stroke. The boat is equipped with hardtop, pulpit, windless and trailer. The hull is bottom painted. Any advice you can provide as to what I need to be looking for as far as potential problems, maintenance issues etc. with this boat would be greatly appreciated.

Check out this surveyors review on a Grady 24. Not exactly the same boat but there are some similarities and some comments about the open transom that the 226 shares with the 24 that you may find interesting.
One things for sure this surveyor is not blindly in love with Grady's reputation.
There is plenty of criticism of the walkaround design which is a trade off that you either you like or hate. He brings up other points though that are good to consider rather than ignore.
Mike.

Thanks for the info Mike. I have also been reading the links about F225 corrosion issues. This seems to be a big problem and concerns me greatly. I'm starting to have second thoughts about buying a boat with Yamaha F power.

That is a great boat! Don't let an old survey on a 1988 boat lead you astray. A 2006 Seafarer is a solid boat and has the newer SeaV2 hull design that goes through water better than older models. The open transom on that model also has a splashwell in front of it, and is of no concern for water entry into cockpit. I would say that there is not a better boat in that class.
