I have a 232 Gulf Stream and I was having an issue with the Starboard engine staring. When I turn the key all it would do is click once. After cleaning all of the battery terminals and testing the starter I had the same issue. I believe my issue is the Neutral switch, if I turn the key and keep it turned and jiggle the throttle back and forth the engine will start. Can any one tell me how to locate the neutral switch?

It helps if you tell us what motor you have, but most of the neutral switches are on the gear shift cable, under the cowling, starboard side for V6 Yamaha's if they are mechanical. I am not familiar with the electronic controlled engines.

If the switch works when you wiggle the control, it may be out of adjustment at the motor end on the shift cable.
Do you have a service manual that explains how to adjust the control cables ( specifically the shift cable)

Replacing the switch in the control unit requires the control unit be taken apart if the unit is a 704 type
