Installing a Pro Fish Free Fall 700 on my Marlin.

Boat is in Montauk, NY. Most of my anchoring will be in 30 - 70 ft of water. I want to have the flexibility to anchor in water up to around 100-125 ft, if the situation arises. Plenty of boulders and rocky bottoms around, as well as some sandy bottoms.

The windlass requires 1/2 inch 8 plait and 1/4 in chain.

Was looking at 600' of 8 plait rope, 15 ' of chain from SecoSouth for around 400 bucks.

Any further suggestions on rode, shackle, supplier and recommendations on type and size of anchor would be appreciated.

My current Danforth will be used as back-up.

I changed our 300-ft of 3-strand anchor rode to plaited line last year.

Purchased 600-feet + 30 ft of chain from Seco South.

I would recommend you increase the chain length to 30-ft. Chain = boat length is a good rule of thumb.

The 600+30 was "snug" in our anchor locker, but should fit easily in your Marlin. In fact, why not consider longer than 600?

Our main anchor is a 22# Delta, and I would not recommend anything less for your boat. Stonewall's recommendation is right on.
