Sailfish 272(2000) The Furuno 1850DF(12yrs old) installed in the helm instrument box has had a screen failure and as per Furuno can't be repaired/replaced. Have really enjoyed using the machine and still think I like the idea of a combo.

Any suggestions for a combo that will fit into the box?? Don't really want to buy a used 1850DF since Furuno no longer supports that unit. Have reviewed some of the posts on flush mounting something on that face. Most seem to be using separate GPS and bottom units.

Has anyone just replaced the black door with a flush mounted unit/units?

Need ideas /suggestions.....most fishing done in SW FL Gulf grouper & snapper digging....

I ended up mounting a Humminbird 900 series in the instrument box of my 226. With the low and wide configuration fits perfectly and leaves just enough room for a small VHF. It is plenty wide enough to display both the fishfinder and chartplotter functions at the same time.

Mine has the side scan function, but I find that to be useless for grouper digging. I also added a trough hull transducer (Airmar B60) that REALLY improved the sensitivity and bottom detail. That's all the transducer you need unless you fish over 100'.

The new Raymarine e7 is another small unit that you might check out. The screen is similar in size you your Furuno, but it has a much higher resolution and is a true multi-function display.

I did a flush mount on my Voyager. Do some searches on here for flushmounting - alot of guys have done it. You can remove the black lexan door and cut out some starboard. I used 1/2" starboard in the offwhite color and it matches grady gelcoat perfect. I cut the outside to size and then brought it to a wood guy who had a good router to cut out the instrument templates.

I had to cut some of the glass on the outside edges to fit my Raymarine C90W but it wasn't much. I've got a C90W and an ICOM 504 flush mounted next to one another. Sorry, this is the only pic I could find (was focusing on my new canvas, not the instruments, but you can see them at the helm).

I did a 10" Lowrance in my 226. Fit perfectly. I had it off centered on purpose with the intention of adding a remote mic for the VHF but I ended up selling the boat before I did that upgrade.
