New owner, starter question

I recently acquired a 1984 GW 197 Tournament with a Mercrusier 470 I/O. My question is:
I need to replace the starter, but my head is swimming with part numbers. I want to make sure that I get the correct one the first time.
Does anyone know what part I need or direct me to a manual to search for it? If this is in the wrong section, I apologize.

I'd take pics of the starter and any manufacturer plate. You may need to hunt on a Mercrusier site once you have the info.
