Our first killing spree on our new 282 Sailfish was the first week of the La Push Campaign. The report report is quite different than last year! The Ling Cod fishing at the Rockpile, Prairie and SW Corner was as they say "off da Hook"! But the Hali fishing was good in quantity but very low in size of fish for most of us at La Push, as far as I could tell on the docks. I know Wavedancer had a 100# on but had a parting of the ways. there was a few 40's, 50's and 60's, but the majority were 40 and under. The Ling Cod however were many and very few undersized. It was just a matter of up grading to larger models. The average size offshore was in the mid teens and at the Rockpile in the low teens.
We arrived on Tuesday to relative solitude but when we came in from Ling Slaying the Marina was bristling with activity and reached fever pitch on Wednesday night.
The water was really quite manageable the whole time with Saturday being a cake walk. On the way in at 32 knots with the best mileage of the trip. The new Grady is a dream to fish on and we had a great time killing Hali's and Lings!
We came home with full limits of Lings, Hali's and of course enough Rockfish to fill out the empty spots in the freezer.

Nice fish

I just hate when people call fishing a killing trip. It's fishing for both food and enjoyment. Killing is just for destroying life for fun. Just a opinion.

We get maybe six days the whole year to catch, harvest, cull, euthanize, put down, put to sleep, reap, or however you want to Candy coat filling my freezer to get me through the whole year of the best eating Whitefish in the world. I work in the world of animal parts for a living and we use the word "KILL" when we slaughter animals to go to market. So the word "KILL" is not a bad thing!!!! I release five times as much as we Harvest and to me that is enjoyable!!!!! So to each his own and I agree with Average Joe "It's Awesome" to kill on my GRADY WHITE!!!!

Roll the bones, that was a great catch and you don't have to explain to nobody of how you call your catch, ten fish for 4 people i wouldn't call it "killing", especially if you fish once a week. I am a catch and release fisherman my self, but when quality fish (i love fluke and sea bass) gets in the boat, some of it stays in the boat.
