Oil leak

While idling to my slip today starboard motor starts smoking,with injection oil leaking from under cowl . Shut motor down continued in, there were no alarms,or warning lights. Upon inspection under cowl oil tank was leaking from top under cap,seemed to be over pressurized,maybe ?

If the oil level in that tank was all the way to the top, you probably have a bad sensor or wiring. The ecu is not getting the signal to stop the remote oil pump and the main tank is overflowing. The sensor has two states: Oil too low ( switch the pump on) and oil at max fill level (turn the pump off). The sensor has a float and magnetic switches. It can be tested with an ohmmeter of with the help of a friend, by taking it out and sliding the float all the way up. With the ignition on, the remote oil pump should be off. Slide the float to the bottom of the rod and the remote oil pump should run. It may not be that easy to hear though
if the oil level is not overflowing the top and oil pools in the bottom cowling when the motor is stored in the up position, you may have a leaky oil tank cap, a common occurrence. The pooled oil sits until you lower the motor and then runs down the exhaust. Clean the inside of the cap as well as the lip it sits on. Some have had luck using a tie wrap around the outer edge of the cap.
Note also that there is a manual override switch on the motor that causes the remote pump to run. That toggle switch is a momentary type ( switches off when you let go). Just make sure it isn't stuck on.(very rare event)
