Oil Pump Gasket

HAVE A 265 Express with twin 225 Yamahas. Never an ounce of trouble. Came back from fishing trip while cleaning boat notice while engines were tilted up a drop of oil came leaking out. Had mechanic take a look said its a gasket around oil pump. Has anyone ever changed on there own?

This is a fairly common issue with that motor but it requires the removal of the powerhead and that is a bit of a job. You need to change the pump and seal while the motor is apart. Based on the history of corrosion issues on those motors, you and I hope not, may find problems with the oil pan and/or the exhaust housings.
