Outrigger Recomendation

Express 330
We bought a 330 express this summer. Well the winter is here and time for some add ons. I am gonna top mounted riggers. Curious as to what kind and size does everyone recommend? Thanks
 
I put the tacos on my boat years ago. Really like the fact that they are out of the way on the WA when not being used. I still like them on the express boats unless you are hard core and using them all the time. Just easier to deploy and no climbing on the deck in nasty weather. I did a write up on them when installed, will see if I can locate it. I did not have the built in mounts on the hardtop so mounting was critical. No issues to this point and without the mounts I kept the poles to 15'.

On an Express you can reach the wishbones from inside the cockpit. they drop easily. longer stronger poles.
You don't gain anything by mounting up top unless you have to get under a bridge that you would otherwise fit under without riggers.
I wouldn't go up top on an express unless I had $8-10k to burn on Gemlux Bluewaters. To do it right you probably need mounting plates welded.
If you have canvas up or you have the hardtop mesh life jacket bag there isn't really a good place to mount them anyways.
 
I have no skin in this topic, just a bunch of online reading. Seems like the tacos are what people go with, the one boat I've been on with outriggers, they were tacos.
 
Not a taco fan..gemlux is caddilac these days but I love my Rupps...20 years and parts are available. Very simple and functional.
 
I went with the Rupp riggers, I felt I got the most for my money with them and you will have no problems with their service department if you need parts. carbon fiber

Can you tell me what model boat and what Rupp riggers you got? I'm buying a Marlin and the outriggers that Grady wants to sell me are $4.7K. I'd like to figure out what I should be getting.

I have a 24 offshore with top gun mounts welded on. the bases came with the boat but the owner gave the riggers to his son. after researching a bit we decided on the 15' carbon fiber. without bases, double rigged ran us $2,300 I believe.
 
Look to see if you have mounting plates already installed. On the 330's I have seen them just on the outside of the rear hardtop leg. If you do have the mounting plates installed then call grady and see what bases they are for and or what was installed at the factory. probably Taco, which was the case with my boat. If you don't have the mounting plates, then you will have other choices. I have had both the side mounted Lee jr's and currently the hard top mounted. The hardtop mounted are more user friendly. They telescope down if you need clearance and or to put them and store them at the end of the season. They weigh next to nothing compares to the old lee poles. They are also up top and out of the way so you don't have to work around them going to the bow.
