I have to put new registration numbers on my Gulfstream and the old ones are painted on. Is there a paint remover that won't hurt the gelcoat? Thanks, Joe

Wonder it acetone would work. I have used acetone on gel coat and it didn't seem to hurt the gel coat. But I'm not sure how well it would remove the type of paint that you want to remove.

Paint thinner should work, I use it to fix any mess ups when I paint my bottom. If u rinse it with water after and apply wax over it, it will not harm the hull. Before you wax, you may want to use a hull cleaner like collinites 420 or one of 3M's hull cleaners to get ride of the discoloration from the sun that will likely exist once the paint comes off.
