Hi everyone,

I have an old bimini on my Sailfish—not sure how old! Zips into the back of the hardtop and goes all the way stern. When I bought the boat, it had a large tear, which the dealers patched up pretty well for me. I'm now finding some smaller tears here and there.

I know it's only a matter of time until I need to replace it, but I'd like to get a few more months out of it. Any advice on patching bimini material? Should I just get some scraps of the same material and sew on patches, or are there any nice products out there (like sail tape) that work well?

Thanks for any advice. (And yes, I'm also Googling the same question right now.)

What type of material is the bimini? Sunbrella/fabric-style or vinyl?

Thanks Dennis, and sorry for not clarifying. Fairly thick, sturdy, canvas material, not vinyl.

Pretty much anything you would use for a tent will work just fine. It's been years since I've patched one, but what you linked to looks like something I would have used. If the canvas is loaded up with salt, it may not stick very well, though. Can't hurt to try.

Thanks all. I'll give it a try.
