I was wondering if anyone knew of a good grade carpet or welcome mat to use dockside. One that won't smell after a while and doesn't hold water etc. I'm throwing away my second one now!

I've used, with good results, the heavy rubber door mats with the open pattern. The open pattern has very short(almost micro) brush type fibers and the mat doesn't hold any water and dries out quickly when it rains.

I use leftover carpet squares from my commercial construction projects and screw them down in four locations with stainless screws. The backing is polypropylene as is the pile. I am right down the road from you and mine stays down all year and does not smell or get nasty.
