I am currently looking to buy a project boat, I saw a few Mako's but the beam was a little small for my taste. I have an chance to get a 1992 24ft walkaround in pretty fair condition except the hull took a pretty hard hit on the port side. There is a 3" crack thats pretty deep. Its also bottom painted, I don't know how long it was in the water like this. I removed the lid to the same side in the cuddy cabin and I can feel where the hit was. It does not appear to be all the way through. I can "punch" all aound the crack with my fist and it still seam solid! I can get the boat VERY cheap. I am basically getting the boat free because the motor is almost worth what I'm paying.I always loved these boats and the layout. I have the talent to fix the hull..I'm sure so far..never did it before..but my main question is "is there any issus with these boats in these years that I may have to watch for. (For example Mako's we solid in the late 70's and early 80's, BUT late 80's-90be wary) 8)

Like any other boat with wood stringers, bulkheads, transom, and deck coring, the wood needs to be evaluated.
