Hi guys/gals --- When replacing my props after servicing, one of the nuts will not line-up for the cotter key when I apply the reccomended 55 Lbs of torque. Question is do I add just enough torque to line up the hole or back it off. I'm concerned that the additional load will be cause bearing damage. When iI tested the additional torque load to get the alignment, it took about 60-65 Lbs.
OH Yeah --- I'm dealing with '97 SWS II Yamaha 150's

That is a good question and I don't know if I do it right either... I usually back it off before over tightening. Maybe Jimmy will jump in with the right answer.
