I just repowered my 228 seafarer with hardtop , bracket , no bottom paint with a new Suzuki DF300. 2 hours run time. Motor is in lowest position, but my bracket has one hole lower left to go. I’m running a 3x16x18.5 Suzuki stainless prop. Max speed on the river with 80 gallons fuel 2 people trimmed up was only 43-44mph @5700RPM. My hole shot and acceleration is great with no cavitation.I would say a prop change would do the trick, but motor cavitates when turning or light chop with neutral trim . Cavitation plate is about equal to the bottom of hull at neutral trim with 25” shaft. should I raise motor to see if I'm pushing too much water? I also notice that there is a slight hesitation when accelerating like it takes a second to reapond to the throttle change, is that normal in the beginning?
