Need some help here. Trying to remove the pulpit off of my 1990 Seafarer. everything has been removed and it doesn't want to budge.
Could it be all of teh caulk under it? I cannot figure what is holding it.
Any help[ would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks

Put a picture of your pulpit up. On my islander there were 4 large bolts that had to be unscrewed from inside the anchor locker. And then the rail hardware.

Mine was held in with lots of silicone caulk. Go around the edges with a knife for score the caulk. Try lifting from the front first - use the leverage of the pulpit.

That's exactly what I did. I removed the 4 bolts and the one that has the cleat attached to the 3/4" bolt that goes into the anchor locker. It must be held down by all of gthe caulk.
I'm going to attack it again tomorrow.
Thanks for your imput. I wanted to see if I was missing something.

When I got my pulpit from Grady White 5200 was included in the mounting kit. That went under the pulpit. I think that may be the issue.

I did think it may be 5200, because it is absolutely murder trying to get it off.
I’m going to try it again today
Thanks G

well i finally got it off. It was loaded with 5200. KI had to lift and slice with a fillet knife. But it came off I won't be using 5200. I really can't see the reason for it
Thanks for your imput.

Some high stress attachments like cleats, awning track, bow pulpits and swim platforms should be bedded. The constant stress of flexing can "work" parts loose with silicone. I would use 3M 4000. UV stable. Good adhesive properties. And these parts rarely need to be seperated.

For things like deck hatches a good quality silicone is best.

Thanks hookup. I understand what you’re saying now that you explained it to me. I guess I’ll use the 5200 since I have it. It makes sense now. I don’t think I’ll be taking it off for as long as I live .
Thanks again
