What is the PVC pipe under the gunnels for? I don't think they are rigging tubes cause nothing would be in there. I'm wondering if I can screw clips into them to attach some LED rope lights.

My '86 has a tube under the port gunwale. And I believe it's to allow electrics or electronics to be run to the port console ...

Its a conduit for electrical lines from the batteries to the dash and cabin. You cna probably screw some short screws into it w/o a problem, but I'd be careful if the screw end protrudes into the PVC pipe b/c then wires could be rubbing against it.
