Radar Dome Location

[Lite Tackle]

Working on replacing the 20yo Raymarine with a Lowrance 4G. I originally thought it was a completely different bolt pattern and was looking for a way to not make Swiss cheese of my hardtop (I.e. custom raised mount). Well today after removing the relic, I was pleasantly surprised to find the pattern was the same, but the Lowrance sits a foot forward of where the Raymarine sat. I am ok with it, what say you? Wedge needed?

It does sit forward a bit more than most, but I think it will work out. How is the unit performing? Do you need any pitch adjustment? If not, I'd leave it. I'm for as few holes as possible in a boat.

Been installing and cleaning up wiring in radio box, electronics box and cuddy. Hope to get out for test tomorrow. Still need a Simnet to N2K cable to overlay radar. Amazon says I’ll have it tomorrow.

Best way to figure out the angle is when boat is sitting in the water, check the level on the radar dome and then decide if you need to change the pitch. In my case, my hardtop curves downward going forward and I just put a couple of washers on the front and it came out perfect. Keep in mind, when in a running attitude, she will have a different pitch, so the radar looking downward a bit usually is ok.
