Got my new annual sticker and that prompted me to ask, on the smaller hulls, the 208 for instance, do folks favor the numbers above or below the rubrail?

I've seen both. My current numbers look like this.

What you have is better if you ask me. I don't like above.

Same here, below the rub rail for me. To the OP did you buy the Adventure in the picture or selling it? I saw an ad on Craigslist with the same boat for sale.

Mine are below too. I'm not sure its technically legal (you can't see them well if you pull up along side) but no one semis to care.

Exactly what I was thinking and is why I asked. Consensus is to leave them so that's what I'll do. Thanks for the responses everyone.

Missed the question, no not mine. I just used the picture because it was handy.

Bought a boat that had them above. They had been baked into the gelcoat by the sun. All the buffing and wet sanding still left a raised ghost.

Mine go below the rubrail and above the stripe.

I took a look at my states requirements ( NYS) and here is what they state:
Put your registration stickers on the boat 18 inches from the bow on both sides of the boat. This is approximately the same position that the stickers are located when a boat is also required to have registration numbers on the hull.

Not very clear and they don't mention above or below anything. The real interesting part is that I bet the vast majority of reg numbers are placed more that 18 inches from the bow:)

Oh ok, I was just curious. I posted the Craigslist link for that same boat in the "For Sale" section and was wondering if you had purchased it or owned it or whatnot. Thanks.
