Rejex question

Hey guys,

Just getting back into the swing of things with the last couple of days

of good weather up here,(all gone today :( rainy & cold).

Anyways, I had buffed out my helm with 3M marine rubbing compound,

and followed with 3M Finesse it II, it came out great! To protect it I put

two coats of Rejex on it and hand buffed, nice and easy looks good.

My question to those who have used it, Does the Rejex hold up? How long?

And does it prevent oxidation? UV protection, and do I need it?

the reason I ask is because it goes on so easily, my old school elbow grease

mentality makes me think that "this can't work, too easy" ya know? crap in

crap out theory?

So any one who used this stuff please tell pros and cons.

If you do a search on hull truth dot com you will see a lot of good information on rejex. some of those guys swear by it.
 
It is rare to ever see me get excited about a detailing product as I have too many toys to be fanatical about any one of them in particular (a good thing).

I am one who swears by it. But, DO NOT BOTHER UNLESS
1) The hull (or whatever) is already CLEAN and shiney (it does not polish)
2) Apply when you will have 12 hours for it to cure before it sees water or bright sun.
3) Ditto #2 on second coat if you care to do two coats.

My bay boat got a coat in November before the tow to FL for the winter, and I gave the liner another quick coat the end of Jan. The liner is bright snow white and sits in the FL sun and looks shiney, clean and new. In my 40 years of boat ownership, nothing has ever even come close holding up on the outboard motor either.

Are you using Rejx in lieu of wax like Collonite? I will be picking up my new Tournament 225 next month and would rather use the Rejex instead of a Collonite wax job if it will serve the same purpose. What do you think? Thanks
 
TBone, I did pretty much the same thing you did to the top of my gunwales which take a real beating in the sun down here. I get a lot of oxidation and it always gets slopped up from fishing and hard to keep clean. So after I cleaned it and waxed it I put the Rejex on in the evening to let it cure overnight. I even used it on the non skid on the top of the gunwales.

It's been about a month now and water is still beading, it is a dream cleaning after fishing all day and it really didn't make it slippery although I don't think I would use it on the deck non skid. The area around my anchor locker has always been tough to keep free of stains but the Rejex fixed that.

I am sold on Rejex and if I can get a couple of months between applications that would be great. The thing I'm not sure is something you asked-is there any UV protection, which I don't know. If it is preventing oxidation and water is still beading it must be doing something. Great stuff! :D

I am trying Zanios this year. Car guys rave about this stuff. It is a polymer like rejex, but has UV inhibitors as well (Rejex does not have UV inhibitors) & can be applied in the sun. Additionally, you can add an accelerator to it which speeds the drying time to about 30 minutes.

We'll see how it goes this year.
